In celebration of our 5th year anniversary, College Promise is hosting a series of discussions , presentations, and workshops to give students the tools, advice, and strategies they need to succeed. We invite future and current college students to join us for these exciting and informative lessons ahead of an unprecedented school year. The series starts on Wednesday, September 9th -- don't miss your chance to sign up and hear directly from students, program leaders, and support service experts.

You Belong In College: A Webinar for Students

Wednesday, September 9 at 1 pm EST

Join College Promise for a virtual discussion about why all students belong in college -- even in a pandemic -- and the support services students can take advantage of today to ensure they can thrive throughout the school year.

WHEN: We'll see you Sept 9th at 1 PM EST.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Karoline Jimenez, a college student from the #WeBelongInCollege scholarship campaign, will moderate a conversation with leaders who serve diverse student populations, including DREAMERs, adults, and justice-impacted students. Panelists include: Marni Roosevelt of the Los Angeles Valley College Family Resource Center, Tia Ryan of FORTE House, and Lorena Tule-Romain from ImmSchools.

Choice Amidst COVID: A College Planning Virtual Workshop for Students

Join College Promise for a virtual panel discussion that will give students an opportunity to hear practical information on choosing the next steps in their educational plan, including pitfalls to avoid and options they may not have considered before COVID.

WHEN: We'll see you Sept 16th at 1 PM EST.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Farhad Asghar of the Carnegie Corporation of New York will moderate a conversation with college counseling experts as they discuss topics such as alternative higher education pathways, predatory institutions, and college planning. Panelists include: Dr. Blake Ellis of Phi Theta Kappa, Dr. Keisha Taylor of NAF, and Tanya Ang of Veterans Education Success.

Thriving in Adverse Climates: A Wellness and Mental Health Virtual Workshop for Students

Join College Promise for a virtual workshop offering students actionable advice on maintaining both physical and mental health as the school year ramps up.

WHEN: We'll see you Sept 17th at 1 PM EST.

WHAT TO EXPECT: MDRC's Evan Weissman will moderate a conversation between Hala Haobsh from Peer Health Exchange and Jackie Garrick, a licensed social worker, on the mental health challenges that students face and tips students can implement to prioritize personal wellness.

Managing Finances in an Economic Crisis: A Financial Literacy Workshop for Students  

Join College Promise for a virtual discussion about topics like managing debt and finances, estimating total costs of attending college, and general financial literacy to, through, and beyond college.

WHEN: We'll see you Sept 22nd at 1 PM EST.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Abigail Seldin of the Seldin/Haring-Smith Foundation  and Bryan Ashton of the Trellis Company will share essential financial knowledge and skills that students should have as they navigate higher education.
